Rescues from vehicles in water are a growing hazard faced by Fire and Rescue services.
The Rescue from Vehicles in Water (RVW) is a specialist course for existing Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technicians that explores the skills required to deal with rescues from vehicles in water. It looks at vehicle behaviour and stabilisation in water, as well as access techniques and casualty extrication.
Prerequisites:
Rescue 3 SRT
(Other DEFRA Level 3 qualifications may be considered on a case by case basis)

• Vehicle behaviour in water
• Glass management
• Medical considerations
• Scene assessment and rescuer safety
• Anchors (vehicle and bank) and vehicle stabilisation
• Casualty extraction
• Tension diagonal
• Tethered swim
• Single bank, two and four-point boat systems
